Our Route

Come on an adventure on our 1 day photography tour to the stunning Assynt and Sutherland area of the North West Highlands of Scotland for an unforgettable photography tour where we will take you to the best locations in Assynt and Sutherland, and where you will be able to capture those calendar shots of mountains, lochs and we will throw in a ruined castle for good measure!

Day 1

We will pick you up from your hotel or arranged pick up point in our Nissan SUV which has plenty of space for you and your camera gear where you will travel in luxury up North passing Ullapool along to Lochan an Ais stopping for a few shots looking over to Stac Pollaidh, then on to Elphin Bothy where we will get some shots of the old bothy with an amazing backdrop of Stac Pollaidh and the mountains of Assynt behind, then on towards Ardvreck Castle a MacLeod of Assynt castle on the shores of Loch Assynt , here we will capture the castle from various different angles a great shot to be had in all weathers!

We will then head over towards Lochinver and stop off at Lochinver Larder cafe for a warm up and breakfast serving up some amazing homemade pies.

We will then make our way along a single track road for a few miles  stopping off at an amazing Loch to take in the views of Stac Pollaidh, and if the weather is still then some amazing reflection shots can be captured, a photographers heaven! We will go exploring the loch finding some great compositions around the area.

We will then make our way over some stunning single track roads towards Achiltibuie stopping off to get some amazing landscape shots along the way, then head towards Ullapool where we will stop at the  amazing Cafe Margot for refreshments and food before heading back to Inverness.

Due to this tour being in a remote location at times cafes and eating places are few and far between we will provide soup, sandwiches, tea and coffee to keep us going until we return to Inverness just in case.

As the locations we visit can be very much out of the way at times,  general fitness would be an advantage as the walks and hikes could be up to 2 miles at times with varying degrees of terrains with ground level changes, so you must be in relatively good health and fitness, carrying a backpack with camera equipment and essential water supply can get demanding at times in certain locations, however not all locations are up hill and strenuous. It is also a good idea to come prepared for the weather, even in the summer months the weather can catch you out, so a waterproof jacket would be a good idea and also some decent footwear is a must, (come prepared!)

If you have any health or medical issues which you feel may affect your ability to walk long distances or are on any medication which you feel we need to know about please do let us know whilst booking the tour so that we can accommodate and make sure that we do not walk too far off the beaten track and wear you out! We will be very happy to change plans slightly to accommodate if need be so do not be afraid to let us know so that we can discuss your abilities.

My daughter and I had a great time and learned a lot from Ryan. Ryan is a very good photographer. I highly recommend taking this tour.
